Levnadsbeskrivning

Trolovningsbarn.OTTO MARTINSON, a preacher in the Swedish
Methodist Congregation in Manda, Travis County, Texas, was bor n
in Örkeneds parish in Skåne, in 1883. In the fall of 1903, he
immigrated to America and first came to Grand Rapids , Mich.,
where he worked in a factory for a few years. He joined the
Swedish Mission Society there and worked with interest both in the
Sunday school and the youth organizatio n. On the recommendation
of the Reverend T. C. Henderson, he decided to enroll at the
Cleveland Bible Institute in Clevela nd, Ohio, in 1907. After
having completed a three year course in this theological school,
he graduated in the Spring o f 1910. For a few years Pastor
Martinson served in English speaking congregations. It was in
the Fall of 1915 that Mr . Martinson entered the Swedish seminary
inEvanston as a student, to better serve among his countrymen. In
the Spring o f 1916 he graduated from that school and came to
Texas. Pastor Martinson married Miss Anna Ahlberg in 1908. She
was bor n in 1884 and came to this country with her parents at the
age of fourteen. Her father, Jakob Ahlberg, was a farmer in S wed
en. After arriving in this country, the family settled in Grand
Rapids, Mich. Mrs. Martinson's brother, Carl Ahlberg, i s a
preacher in the Mission Society. The couple has two children:
Franklin 1909, and Hellen 1914.
